Dorothy Miller Johnson, age 84, formerly of Rocky Point passed away from this life and into eternal life on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

She was born May 6, 1932 in Pender County, North Carolina the daughter of the late Christopher James Miller and Lena Marie Savage. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband Luther P. Johnson Jr. and two sisters, Carolyn Miller and Jean Carter.

Dorothy was a giving person who was known for her caring and compassionate nature. She was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church and loved her church and church family deeply.

Left to cherish her legacy of love are her three daughters, Sherri Register (L.P.) of Wilmington, Barbara Ward (Joe) Parkersburg, WV and Nancy Poe (Mike) of Wilmington, NC; eight grandchildren, Joseph Ward (Liz), Matthew Register (Justine), Meghan Wisener (Andrew), Jared Poe, Madison Poe, Katie Ward, Anna Ward and Derek Poe; three great grandchildren, Avi, Emeline and Oliver; two brothers, James Miller(Alice) of Castle Hayne, NC and Jerry Miller (Carol) of Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Bettie Hoffman of Deacater, GA; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held 10 AM Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Quinn McGowen Wilmington Chapel with Dr. Jim Herchenhahn officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

A burial will be 10 AM Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
