Dorothy Lee Rochelle, age 91, of Wilmington and formerly of Harris Creek Community, Jacksonville, passed peacefully on Monday, December 31, 2012 at NorthChase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Wilmington.

She was born December 19, 1921 in Onslow County to the late Robert and Lena Mae Shepard Rochelle.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her sons, James "Jimmy" C. Rochelle (Janis) of Wilmington and Jerry Rochelle of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Kimberly Rochelle and Allen Rochelle; great grandchildren, Perry Smith and Karsyn Smith; special cousin, Millard Lanier (Mary Ann) and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was one of the original members of Harris Creek Holiness Church where she enjoyed gospel singing and the Word of God preached.

Loving her family was easy for Dorothy as she was a giving and caring lady. In years past she was not only a diligent worker, but often took care of family and friends. Dorothy was a strong, courageous and gentle woman who loved the Lord and who always brought out the best in all that were near and dear to her. Her warm heart and gentle spirit will be remembered.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2012 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Rob Strickland and The Rev. Ricky Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Rochelle Family Cemetery, NC Hwy 53, Jacksonville. Casketbearers will be Perry Smith, Don Hare, Buddy Griffin, Charles Snipes, Rev. Shane Becton and Rev. Michael Morley.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy's family would like to thank the staff of NorthChase Nursing Center for their care while Dorothy made her home at NorthChase for the past four years.
