Dorothy Evans Shue, age 97, of Wilmington and formerly of Wallace died Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Davis Health Care Center.
She was born August 22, 1909 in Woods Hole, MA and was the daughter of the late Robert Ellis and Sara Percy Evans. She was predeceased by her husband, James Robert Shue; sisters, Helen E. Ahlfield and Margaret Evans and brother, Robert Hill Evans.
Mrs. Shue was employed with the US Navy during WWII as a librarian and later worked with the state of NC as a librarian until her retirement. After retiring she continued to serve others as she worked at Pender County Library. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Wilmington.
Surviving are her sister, Janet E. Pope of Wallace; niece, Sara Parker of Winston-Salem and nephews, David Pope of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX, Dan Pope of Wallace, Bill Ahlfield of Baltimore, MD, Richard Ahlfield of New Point, VA and Roddy Ahlfield of Burr Hill, VA.
Graveside funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Rockfish Church Cemetery with the Reverend Frank Hawkins officiating.
The family will receive friends at the home of Janet E. Pope, Wallace.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial gifts be given to Boy & Girls Home of NC, PO Box 127, Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450-0127 or Alzheimer's Association, Att: Research, 400 Oberlin Rd, Suite 220, Raleigh, NC 27605.
Mrs. Shue's family would like to thank the wonderful staff, friends and caregivers of Plantation Village, Champion's of Porters Neck and Davis Health Care Center for all the special love and care that each of them gave her through out the years.
Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Wallace is serving the Shue family.
