Dorothy Annette Francis Sykes, 73, passed gently from her earthly life Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Woodbury Wellness.

She was born January 12, 1949 in Edenton, the daughter of Clive Francis  and Louise Dobbins Francis. In addition to her parents Annette was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Thomas Sykes.

Annette is survived by her sons, William Thomas Sykes and Michael Ray Sykes (Jayne); sister, Mabert Stogner; brother, William Francis (Sweetie); many extended family and friends.

Annette was all about family that she loved and cared for so dearly. Thomas had a dog named Rebel who  transferred his affections to Annette after Thomas' passing. Family remembers the delicious chicken and rice that Annette cooked when she thought Rebel was ailing and the whole family enjoyed the meal as well as Rebel. Sadly, Rebel passed away two years ago. Annette was a wonderful cook. A favorite pastime of Annette and Thomas was watching TV Westerns. Most of all Annette loved her family and they loved her.

A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022  at Cora's Grove Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Little conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
