Dorothy Henderson Wells, age 81, of Teachey died Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Brian Center of Wallace.

Mrs. Wells was born July 4, 1929 in Bowden, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late John Ashley and Katie Mae Usher Henderson. She was also predeceased by her three brothers, James Henderson, Richard Henderson and Bill Henderson.

She was a member of Teachey Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her devoted husband of 62 years, Joseph "Joe" Henry Wells of the home; her children, David Alan Wells of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and daughter, Dottie Jo Baker and husband, Keith of Morganton; granddaughters, Elizabeth Baker and Melissa Baker; sisters-in-law, Ruby Henderson of Teachey and Olivia Wells of Newport, NC and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 am Saturday,January 15, 2011, one hour prior to the funeral service at Teachey Presbyterian Church.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Teachey Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Phillip Gladden and Mr. Edgar Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Rockfish Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Eric Davis, Jason Henderson, Mike Henderson, Ray Teachey, Wilson Teachey and Kyle Thompson.

Dorothy was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her granddaughters, who were the apple of her eye. Dorothy was known as "friend" to many and was truly a gift from God. All who knew her were truly blessed.
