Dorothy Annette West, age 82, of Leland, NC passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 in Wilmington, North Carolina with her children by her side.

She was born on August 9, 1939 in Loris, South Carolina to the late Arthur M. Cribb and Reba Benton West.

Dorothy worked many years as a skilled seamstress. Later she retired from Corning Inc. after 20 years of shift work. Dorothy was then able to focus all her time and attention on one of her greatest passions, her family.  Dorothy loved playing family games, camping trips, and especially fishing. She also loved spending time with her church family at First Baptist Church of Leland.  She was an avid reader and had a large collection of Christian books with most focusing on prophecy and deepening her understanding of the Bible. The most important book she studied was her Bible.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Charles Devon West (Jackie); daughters, Cheryl Tolley (Stacy) and Susan Greer (Marvin); sister, Hazel Hewitt (D.J.); grandchildren, Amber Lainhart (Ryan), Devin Skipper (Brooke), Jordan Williams (Jonathan), and Charles Tyler West; great-grandchild, Madison Lainhart; many other nieces, nephews, family and friends; and her precious dog, Bella.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lonough West; sisters, Vonnie Lane, Alathea Davis, Linda Poyner, and Diane Malatesta; and brothers, Coy Cribb, Shelton Cribb, Carlon Cribb, and Sherwin Cribb.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Buck Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Longs, SC.
