Douglas Robert Oswald, age 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday September 7, 2026. He was lovingly surrounded by his family.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his best friend and wife of 40 years Pamela Matthews Oswald of the home; his children Dawn Bentz and husband Steve of Wilmington, Kimberly Boyette and husband Charles of Willard and Ryan Oswald and wife Danielle of Lake Wiley, SC; grandchildren Randall Hall and wife Jessica, Steele Oswald, Haskill Oswald and Jackson Oswald; great granddaughter Lillian Brooke Hall; special niece Anna Matthews and numerous extended family and friends that loved Doug dearly.
Doug, a man of great integrity, proudly served in the United States Marine Corp and United States Army, embodying the values of honor, courage and commitment throughout his life. After serving in the military, he carried that same dedication into his work and daily walk. Above all else, Doug loved his Lord. His faith was the anchor of his life, guiding every step he took and every word he spoke. He was a devoted member of Friendly Community Church. He loved his church, his pastor and his church family. Doug was a family man who loved his family dearly. He especially loved his wife Pam with a fierce and steady devotion that served as a shinning example to everyone who knew him. While this loss of a great husband, father and grandfather is incredibility painful, his family is comforted to know that they will see him again in Heaven.
A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026 at Friendly Baptist Church. NC Highway 117, Burgaw, NC.
