Durwood Kevin Smith, age 46, of Castle Hayne died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Britthaven of NorthChase as a result of a moped accident on May 11, 2008.

Born on November 17, 1963 in Morehead City, the son of Lucy Harris Smith of Castle Hayne and the late Charles Nathaniel Smith, Sr. He was also predeceased by his brother, Roscoe Smith; grandparents, Roscoe and Lydia Harris and Luby and Vivian Smith and nephew, Nicholas Lanier.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are his brother, Charlie N. Smith, Jr. of Rocky Point; sister, Lydian Pariette Lanier of Castle Hayne; nieces, Shanna Fulcher (Coley), Elizabeth Mazur (Kris) and Jessica Lanier; great nephew, Chase Fulcher; several aunts and cousins and special friend, Cathy Lipe.

Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Pike Rocky Point Presbyterian Church with the Rev. J.C. Young-Thompson and the Rev Lewis Wescott officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
