Dylan
Canady
January 25, 2008 – June 1, 2026
We are beyond devastated to announce the loss of our Son Dylan (Davis Major Dylan Canady) on June 1st, 2026. Born on the 25th of January, 2008 Dylan was an old soul with a huge heart.
Dylan loved being in nature and hiking. The mountains were his happy place. He trained in muay thai and boxing and loved to lift weights and eat healthy. He could be extremely disciplined, especially in regard to his workouts and nutrition. Smart as a whip, he was a history buff and loved books and visiting historical sites. An amazing cook, he knew his way around a kitchen at a very young age and would whip up dishes like his famous Jerk Chicken, Carne Asada, Tortas, Bolognese and Vodka sauce. Always an early riser, he would take his coffee black and snuggle his beloved pup Capone while we quietly welcomed the morning together. (One of our daily traditions I will miss the most). Dylan loved animals. Dogs and small children were drawn to him like magnets. His favorite foods were Mexican, steak and watermelon and he would always be sure to share with Capone. He was skilled at bushcraft and bow making and once even built a wikieup, which he spent the night in on the coldest night of the year. Whatever caught his interest, (a period of history, a new skill he wanted to learn, a culture he wanted to know more about) he would go all in with laser focus. He was a constant source of inspiration to those around him. Dylan planned to join the Merchant Marines and had applied to the Harry Lundenburg school of seamanship. He wasn't here to learn his application was accepted June 2nd.
All who knew Dylan loved him. Incredibly kind and caring, Dylan had a great sense of humor and a heartbreakingly gorgeous smile. He cared deeply for people and truly appreciated the things most take for granted. He valued his Family, was a loyal friend and loved traditions. Wise beyond his years, Dylan was a beautiful soul!
Dylan's one and only tattoo was the symbol for Bushido, the way of the warrior. It held great meaning for him and he lived up to the warrior code in every aspect of his life.
He is and was deeply loved and will be forever missed by his Mom- Jessica Ruehle, Stepdad- Richie Ruehle, his Dad- Davis Canady Jr. as well as his Grammy- Sue LoRusso, Uncle Phil- Phillip Kelly, Uncle Joe- Joe LoRusso, Grauntie Anne- Anne Duffus, Oma- Gwenn Clark, Big Pappa- Davis Canady Sr. and Grandma Cathy Canady, as well as countless friends and family and his Best-est boy Capone.
A celebration of life/ memorial service is being planned for a future date. We invite everyone who loved him to gather their favorite stories and photos of him in preparation. (Date location and time TBA)
Should you wish to do something in Dylan's honor we ask for donations to the Conservation Trust for North Carolina https://ctnc.org in lieu of flowers.
