E. Carl Register, Sr, 83 of Surf City, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

Celebration of life service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Surf City Baptist Church where a reception will be held following the service. Inurnment will take place at 3:00 PM, Wednesday at Riverview Memorial Park.

E. Carl Register Sr. was born on October 17, 1930 in Cove City, NC to the late Sherman and Annie Pearl Register.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years Geraldine W. Register of Surf City, NC, sons E. Carl Register Jr, of Holly Ridge NC, Alan D. Register,
of Morrisville, NC, Tracy N. Register of Temecula, CA. and a daughter Robin A. Emerine of Summerfield, NC, 7 grandchildren , 6 great grandchildren along with 3 stepsons and a step granddaughter.

Carl served his country honorably in the USAF in the Korean Conflict from 1950-1953 receiving 3 military excellence citations. Following his service he attended Durham Barber College under the GI Bill which launched his successful barber career that lasted 59 years.

Carl and Geraldine moved to Surf City, NC in 1986 and attended Surf City Baptist Church where he was a deacon and usher.

After retirement, he started and operated a successful yard maintenance business with his wife until spring of 2014. Carl excelled as an avid hunter and fisherman and was known for years in
Surf City as the "Flounder King".

He and Geraldine enjoyed winters in Florida, escaping the cold winter months of coastal NC.

Carl was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend to many people and always had a smile and a kind word to everyone he met.

Carl was welcomed by God's angels on 6-28-14 from complications from melanoma cancer and will be greatly missed.
