Obituary

Eddie was a hard worker and a man who always kept his word.

Eddie Ray McCormick, 83, passed peacefully from his earthly life Monday, August 3, 2026 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

He was born May 30, 1943 in Pender County the son of John Roland McCormick and Ruth Bland McCormick. In addition to his parents Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Caison McCormick and brother, Marion McCormick.

Eddie is survived by his sons, Stephen McCormick and his wife, Teresa and Alan McCormick and his wife, Pam; granddaughter, Sydni McCormick; sister-in-law, Hazel McCormick; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Eddie was retired from the NC Department of Transportation after faithfully working for many years. For many years Eddie gave his time tending to the church cemetery. He was excellent in finding and flagging graves in Moore’s Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

Eddie was a hard worker and a man who always kept his word. If he said he would do something you could count on it getting done. Eddie was a soft spoken man of great faith. Most of all Eddie loved his family and was a faithful caregiver to Peggy, his wife. Eddie is now in God’s care at peace and completely healed.

The graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2026 at Moore’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Philip Eakins conducting the service.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
