Edith Jackson Roberts, age 87, of Wallace left this life for her eternal rest on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from Kenansville Health and Rehab Center.

She was born on December 4, 1925, in Wayne County and was the daughter of the late Ceba and Mamie Malpass Jackson. She is predeceased by her husband, Winfred Lanier and later she married Dewey Roberts who also preceded her in death. Edith is also predeceased by her daughter, Kay Delores Jarman; sister, Kathleen J. Brown and brothers, Milford and James Jackson.

Surviving is her son-in-law, Arnold F. Jarman and wife, Elaine of Albertson; grandchildren, Lisa Buckman of Vine Grove, KY, Keith Jarman, David Jarman and James Jarman, all of Pink Hill; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Edith found great joy in the simplest things, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Being a lover of animals, she would feed and take care of any dog or cat that came to her home. Edith loved to visit her friends around town as long as her health permitted and as long as she could drive. When she became homebound, she would enjoy staying in touch with family and friends by the telephone. Edith was a strong, courageous and yet gentle woman who loved her family and friends dearly. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 US Hwy 117 South, Dudley with Pastor Bud Quinn officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday evening at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace.
