Edith Grace Johnson Herring Sills, age 70, of Wilmington passed away peacefully Saturday, August 6, 2016 at her home.

She was born in Sampson County, North Carolina the daughter of the late Louvie Deems Johnson and Lola Grace Stewart Johnson. She is preceded in death by her husbands, J.D. Herring and David Sills and a brother, Robert Ray Johnson.

Edith was a devoted and loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend who had a generous and caring spirit. She enjoyed sewing and knitting but more than anything loved to be in the company of her family spending time with them.

Edith was a long time member of Sea Gate Baptist Church in Wilmington.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Daniel Heath Herring and Martin Sills; daughter, Kendall Sills; step son, David Hopson and wife Robin; stepdaughter, Lisa Smith and husband Terry; grandchildren, Dawn Hopson, Amber Alvereze, Stormy Smith and Patricia Sales; great grandchild, Austin Smith; sister, Faye Blake and husband Thomas; canine companion, Chewy; numerous loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Sea Gate Baptist Church, 6115 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403.
