Edna Shaw Corbett, age 83, of Burgaw and formerly of Atkinson died Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

She was born August 1, 1924 in Hendersonville and was the daughter of the late Dr. Colin Shaw and Annie Faye Keith Shaw. She was also predeceased by her husband of forty-nine years, Robert James "R. J." Corbett, Sr.; son, Robert "Bobby" James Corbett, Jr.; granddaughter, Leslie Lynn Corbett and sister, Phoebe Holley.

Mrs. Corbett was a faithful member of Atkinson Baptist Church.

Edna was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She always had the most beautiful smile and twinkling laughter that brought joy to one's soul.

Surviving are her loving family: her daughter, Sylvia Corbett Jacobs of Burgaw; sons, William "Bill" Shaw Corbett, Sr. and wife, Brenda of Wilmington and David Michael "Mike" Corbett and wife, Donna of Burgaw; grandchildren, Brent Corbett, Kyle Corbett, Bill Corbett, Jr. and David Corbett and his wife, Sarah; and great grandson, Harry Corbett.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service; 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Atkinson Baptist Church and at other times will be at the home of Mike and Donna Corbett in Burgaw.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, at Atkinson Baptist Church with The Reverend Douglas Warnock officiating.

Burial will follow in Corbett Family Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Brent Corbett, Bill Corbett, Jr., David Corbett, Archie Ray Corbett, Jack Turner, Robert Moore, Carlton Henry and Phil Horrell.
