Edna Holloway Roy, 88 of Leland, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

She was born on August 27, 1934, in Darlington, SC to the late Woodrow and Maude (Blayton) Holloway.

Edna was a member of Elah Baptist Church in Leland. During her life she was an active Girl Scout leader. She was past Worthy Matron of the Order of The Eastern Star of North Carolina (142 Goldenrod Chapter). She was instrumental in establishing a Senior Citizens Center in Leland. She previously represented Brunswick County in the NC Senior Tar Heel Legislature and taught classes at Brunswick Community College.

Edna is survived by her son William Roy Jr. (Billy) and wife Sarah; her daughter Debbie Roy Cook; her sister Kim Smith and husband Allen; her grandchildren, William Roy III (Trey) and wife Andrea, Teddy Cook and wife Mandy; her great grandchildren Savannah and Sadie Cook; her special friend David Outlaw; and many other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Edna was also preceded in death by her husband William Houston Roy Sr. (Bill); and her sisters Margie Britt and Dot Walworth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Edna's memory to a charity of your choice.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Elah Baptist Church 1527 Old Fayetteville Road in Leland.
