Obituary

Edward "Eddie" Owen Bloodworth, 44, of Willard passed peacefully from his earthly life to his eternal rest at sunrise on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice LifeCareCenter surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 5, 1966 in Pender County, the son of the late Elmore Bloodworth, Sr. and Frances Mitchell Bloodworth.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mary Bloodworth; son and daughter-in-law, Edward Jack "E. J." and Lora Bloodworth of Watha; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Nathan Carter of Willard; grandchildren, Aaron Bloodworth and Thomas Carter; sister, Jo Lanier (Wayne) of Burgaw; brothers, Elmore Bloodworth, Jr. (Pam) of Wilmington and Danny Lee Bloodworth (Judy) of Clinton; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Eddie was a devoted husband and loving daddy, granddaddy, brother, uncle and friend. Being strong willed and plain spoken about most things, Eddie also had a warm heart and would tell you in a minute how precious his grandchildren were to him. He enjoyed being outdoors in God's beautiful world especially at the beach and also he loved to go fishing. His smile, his steadfast faith in God and love for his family will forever be cherished and remembered.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Burgaw Holiness Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Following the visitation the funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Ted Mercer officiating.

And He will raise you up on eagle's wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His hand.
