He was born May 6, 1936 in Pender County, the son of James Woodbury Guyton and Katie White Guyton. In addition to his parents Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Owensby Guyton.

Edward is survived by his daughter, Ruth Guyton Varnam; sons, Edward "Eddie" Lee Guyton, Jr. and Eric Landon Guyton; grandchildren; PJ Varnam, Bradley Guyton, and Savannah Guyton; great grandchildren, Bella, Joshua, Kaylee, and Axon; sister, Annie Pearl Woodcock; brothers, J W Guyton (Hazel) and Joe Guyton; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

He served his country proudly and honorably in the US Air Force. Edward was an excellent diesel mechanic working with and retiring from Martin-Marietta Company. He was a steadfast Christian and faithful member of Bible Baptist Church. Also, Edward was a dedicated and long time volunteer fireman with Burgaw Fire Department of which he was proud of until the day he died.

Most of all Edward loved and cared for his family, especially his grandchildren. His presence in our lives and in our family circle will be greatly missed.
