Edward Spencer Schnaebele, 84, formally of Charles County, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at home in Wilmington, NC surrounded by his loving family.

Edward was born on February 2, 1939, in Washington, D.C. to the late Fredrick Jacob and Gertrude Gesina (Thee) Schnaebele.

Ed was a retired K-9 officer at the Sheriff's Department in Charles County, Maryland. Ed served in the 82nd Airborne Division in the Army, where he was also a member of the rifle team. Edward also owned a fence installation company in Charles County, Maryland. Throughout his life, Ed loved hunting, fishing, crabbing, trap shooting, and playing league pool with his wife Joy, whom he taught to play.  Among his many talents Ed had a gift for carving and painting.

Edward is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Joy Schnaebele; his daughter, Teri S. Hupert and husband Stanley J. Hupert; his sister, Lorraine B. Schnaebele; grandchildren, Amber Lee Hupert and Spencer J. Hupert; niece, Elaine and husband Frank Cioffi; and nephew, James Schnaebele.

Ed is also preceded in death by his brother Ernest Fredrick "Freddie" Schnaebele.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at noon at Christ Church Accokeek, 600 Farmington Rd W, Accokeek, MD 20607, with Reverend Father Brian Vander Wel officiating. Lunch will be served in the Church Hall after the service.
