Obituary

Edward Devone Simmons age 70 departed his earthly home on March 1, 2014. He is survived by his wife Mary Simmons of 47 years, his son Joey Simmons and beloved daughter in- law Lori Simmons, his daughter Laurie James and his beloved son in-law Walter James and 3 grandchildren Hunter Atkinson, Lydia Simmons and Ella James whom he loved dearly and were his pride and joy.

Ed had lived in Rocky Point since 1975 and was well known by many. Over his life he worked for several construction companies and was the former owner and operator of Simmons Construction located in Rocky Point, NC. Everyone that ever worked with him or just knew him personally always respected him and thought highly of him for being a man of his word.

Ed was known by his family, friends and anyone whom he met as a true man of God's word. He considered his most important job to be spreading and preaching the word of Christ. His first obligation was praying for anyone who needed prayers. He would sit and call out by name all of those who needed prayer and all of his family every time he said his daily prayers. No one ever came to visit with Ed and left without hearing God's word and having an opportunity to accept Christ as their Savior. He always was full of God's love and was a shining example. His final days left him physically weak, but spiritually he was a lion and still proclaimed his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
