Edward B. Woods, age 71, of Burgaw died Sunday, February 06, 2011 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

He was born January 30, 1940 in Shelby, the son of the late Arthur Woodrow and Madeline Woods. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Woods.

Edward is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Peggy J. Woods; son, Randy Clark Woods of Burgaw; daughter, Pamela LuAnn Farr of Shelby; grandsons, Corey Gibson and Christian Farr; and extended family and friends who Edward dearly loved.

Edward was a member of Burgaw Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the NC National Guard and the US Navy.

Edward was a loving husband, daddy, granddaddy, brother and friend. As long as his health permitted Edward's greatest enjoyments were being outdoors in God's beautiful world planting flowers, trees and a garden. His zest for life was evidenced by his steadfast faith in the Lord, his joyful personality, love of laughter and lifting the spirits of others. Cherished memories of Edward will forever remain in our hearts.

Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Nathan Morton officiating. Following the service the family will receive friends at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Burgaw Baptist Church, PO Box 385, Burgaw, NC 28425 in memory of Edward.
