Effie Mae Lewis Barefoot, age 90, of the Montague Community of Currie died Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Huntington Health Care.

She was born December 30, 1917 in Wilmington , the daughter of the late Shelton Lewis and Tinie Horne Lewis Horrell. She was also predeceased by her husband, Howard W. Barefoot;son-in-law, Paul Robinson; grandson, Tony Robinson and great great granddaughter, Ella Jean Robinson.

Surviving are her family who so lovingly cared for Effie during her lengthy illness, her daughter, Helen Barefoot Robinson of Currie; grandchildren, Steve Robinson and wife, Teresa, Michael Robinson, and Sandra Skipper and husband, Larry; seven great grandchildren, Steven Robinson, Jr. and wife, Kristi, Heather Robinson, Brandon Robinson and wife, Ashley, Justin Robinson and girl friend, Mandy Callahan, Matthew Robinson, Cameron Knight and Richel Cambre; and great great grandchildren, Jaycie Cambre, Destinee Robinson, Gunner Robinson and Skylar Craven.

Graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Malpass Cemetery, Richard Switch Rd in Currie with Pastor Jimmie Mintz officiating.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Huntington Health Care and Lower Cape Fear Hospice, especially Janet Bentley for the exemplary care and emotional support given to them during Effie's illness.
