Elaine McFadyen Sziemkiewicz, age 84, of Burgaw and formerly of Wilmington passed gently from her earthly life Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

She was born June 28, 1938 in Wilmington, the daughter of Clayton Elmer McFadyen and Vivian Hazel Sparrow McFadyen. In addition to her parents Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Sziemkiewicz; her son, Clayton James McFadyen and brother, Douglas McFadyen.

Elaine is survived by her son, Edward Feltman (Frances); daughter, Rebecca Gover (Allan); grandchildren, Justin Baucom (Emily), Hunter Feltman, Scott Feltman, Nathan McFarland, and Shane Gover; great grandchildren, Grayson Baucom, Lydia Baucom, and Riley McFarland; sister, Judi Smith (Jesse); several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Elaine retired after working many years as a real estate agent. For a number of years she attended First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington.

Personality plus was Elaine as she was a prolific talker, never met a stranger, and by the time she left you she knew all about you. Elaine also enjoyed traveling, shopping, meetings, and luncheons with the GE Retirees Association. Her first love and most important in her life was family. Her radiant smile, her laughter, and wonderful sense of humor will long be remembered.

A memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Merrell McKoy conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the memorial service.
