Elbridge Thomas Lanier, Jr., age 67, of Greenbay, Virginia and formerly of Burgaw passed from his earthly life to his eternal rest on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the home of his brother.

He was born June 9, 1945 in Duplin County and was the son of Etta Mae Casteen Lanier of Burgaw and the late Elbridge Thomas Lanier, Sr.

In addition to his mother Elbridge is survived by his sons, Mark Lanier of Rock Hill, SC and Michael C. Hughes of Greenbay, VA; grandsons, Nathan Hughes, Noah Hughes and Thomas Hughes; brother, Gene Lanier (Georgia); sisters, Ellen Sholar (Donnie) and Peggy Bradshaw (Tommy); and many extended family who dearly loved Elbridge.

Elbridge loved his family with all his heart. One of the last things he wanted to accomplish on this earth was to visit his mother and that he did even though it took great effort on his part. Before his passing Elbridge not only visited with his mother and other family, but most important Elbridge accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord. Cherished memories of Elbridge will forever remain in our hearts.

Memorial service will be at a later date.
