Eleanor Anne White Horrell, 89, of Ivanhoe passed peacefully from her earthly life Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

She was born April 1, 1934 in Wilmington, the daughter of The Reverend George Washington Hall White and Louise Mintz White. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Colin Horrell, Sr.; sister, Geraldine Fanney; son-in-law, Steve Horrell; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Howell.

Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Cindy Moore (Cutlar), Claudia Barnhill (Chester), and Stephanie Craver (Danny); son, Jimmy Horrell; grandchildren, Anne Barnhill, Amanda Benton, Kiah Barnhill (Patsy), Brandon Craver, Courtney Horrell, Matthew Horrell, Lindsey Horrell, Bryon Prevatte (Laura), and Samantha Howell; eleven great grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends all who loved Eleanor.

Eleanor was an extraordinary woman of God whose resounding faith and love for family was unmatched. She began a lifelong love of music at the age of 14 and throughout the years she served the Lord by playing the piano for a number of churches. With her sharing and giving spirit in her later years she was a caregiver and companion to others. Her brightly shining light often served as a guide to those around her. Those that knew Eleanor will always remember her passion for being an excellent homemaker,  cooking for those she loved and spending holidays with family.  She was a true example of what it meant to be a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Her presence in our lives will be forever missed but we find solace in knowing she is at peace and rejoicing with her Almighty Father.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Wilmington Chapel, 315 Willow Woods Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409.

Graveside service will be private.
