Elizabeth McClung Cavenaugh, age 81, died Monday, January 5, 2009 at Brian Center of Wallace.
She was born December 23, 1927 in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late William and Sally Cavenaugh McClung. She was predeceased by her sister, Lois Maready.
"Ms. Lib" as everyone so affectionately called her, was owner and operator of Cavenaugh's Supper House for over thirty-five years. She brought a great deal of grace, charm and light into this world and her life will not be forgotten by those who knew and loved her. She was a life-long member of Northeast Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are her devoted son, Samuel "Sambo" D. Cavenaugh and wife, Dawn of Wallace; grandchildren, Duaine Cavenaugh and wife, Tanya of Wallace, Samantha James and husband, Timmy of Penderlea and Philip Cavenaugh of Wallace; great grandchildren, Holly Cavenaugh, Baylie Cavenaugh, Bradly Knowles, Brantly Hobbs and Alyie James; brothers, Phillip McClung and wife, Anita of Wallace and William Junior McClung and wife, Milly of Hampstead and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Northeast Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with the Reverend Willard Hardison and the Rev. Lester Hunter officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Cemetery in Watha.
Casketbearers will be Billy Cavenaugh, Duncan Cavenaugh, Bradly Knowles, Brantly Hobbs, Jim Snyder and Robert Allen Wood.
The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 am Wednesday, one hour prior to the funeral service at Northeast PFWB Church.
