Elizabeth Ann Evans-Newman, 55, of Wallace, NC left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Thursday evening, July 23, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on June 14, 1965 in Jacksonville, Florida; the daughter of Ralph M. and Sara Shelton Evans of Currie, NC.

Elizabeth was a servant.  She served the people of Pender County with Pender EMS until 1999 and then decided to serve others in a different capacity.  She went to school for her teaching degree and became a teacher for exceptional children (EC).  She taught at Burgaw Elementary School until her health would not permit her to teach anymore.  Elizabeth loved and gave herself to these exceptional children for over 19 years.  She loved and was loved beyond words by the children and by those that knew her.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 16 years, Charles W. Newman of the home; her daughter, MaryBeth Evans of Wallace, her son, Kristopher Evans-Newman of Wallace; grandson, Bentley McKnight Rodrigues; sister, Susan Evans Witherspoon and husband, Dax of Knoxville, TN; brother, Brian Evans of Castle Hayne, nieces, Rebecca Witherspoon, Emily Witherspoon; nephew, Xan Witherspoon; her canine companions, "Hercules" and "Hallie" and numerous family and friends.

Elizabeth was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister who loved her family with all her heart.  She enjoyed the simplest things in life but her greatest joy was family.  With a great big heart, she sacrificed her wants and desires for the needs of others.  As a family member stated, "Her hobby was doing for others".  Elizabeth enjoyed baking, cooking, spending time with family and teaching.  She will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Elizabeth.
