Obituary

Elizabeth Jane Hunt Lott, 81 years young, was called home by her Lord on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from Wallace, NC.

She was born on June 20,1942 in Marion, Arkansas to the late Matthew Hunt Sr. and Lucy Jane Hunt.  She was also preceded in death by her stepmother Suzie Hunt; her brothers and sisters: Matthew Hunt Sr, King Henry Ward, George Henderson, Emma Hartison (Ted), Mollie Ann Johnson (Robert), Rosetta Simms (Ronald), Vera Thomas, Willam Hunt Sr. (Nora), Walter Ward (Betty), and Wardell Ward.

Elizabeth's birth first name was Eliza, but she preferred to be called Liz. When Liz was young, her father and 3 of her siblings: Matthew Jr., Vera, and William moved to Lorain, Ohio. Later they moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she graduated from East High School. After Liz graduated from high school, she moved to Bronx, New York.  While living in New York, she went to nursing school to become a nurse.  Liz later moved to Manhattan, New York.  She enjoyed watching old westerns, playing the piano, knitting, sewing, and gardening. She sewed dresses for her two daughters, Sonia and Bonita. Sonia and Bonita are 5 years apart in age. Even with their age difference, Liz dressed them like they were twins. Later in life, she retired from nursing. Years later, Liz moved to North Carolina to live near her brother, William Hunt Sr.  She and William had a close sibling bond. Liz was quiet yet spunky. In her golden years, she enjoyed walking even if, at times, she used a push walker. Liz was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Liz leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters: Sonia Taylor and Bonita Lott, her sister, Shirley Mayes (Paul), 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews and her many friends. Three of her nieces are: Elizabeth Lenix, Lisa S. Woods (Lucius), and Victoria Thomas. One of her nephews is William Hunt Jr.

"Morning Breaking"

Richard Smallwood Featuring Kelly Price

Strong winds are blowing waves of doubt sweep over my soul.

Heart feels like it's breaking sometimes I feel like I can't go on.

Darkness all around me., It seems like I'll never see the light of day

But just when I thought I'd give up,

I hear a voice within me say, Weeping may endure for a night.

Joy is coming in the morning light.

But I can see morning breaking through the night.

(Hold on, morning's breaking, hold on)
