Elizabeth (Lib) (Libby) Jacobs Tyson, 83, of Wilmington, NC died Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Northchase Nursing and Rehab Center in Wilmington, NC.

Lib was born May 14, 1929 in Lee County, Raeford, NC. She was the daughter of the late Floyd Whitehead Jacobs and Lena Joyner Drake. Lib was preceded in death by her brothers, Tom Jacobs (wife Ruth) of Coral Gables, FL, Ralph Jacobs (wife Helen) of CA and David Jacobs (wife Julie) of Raleigh, NC.

Lib was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC. Lib was retired from New Hanover Regional Medical Center, with 26 years of service. Lib attended Castalia High School where she excelled academically as well as in basketball. She attended Duke University and worked in the operating room there in the early part of her working career. Lib then moved to Louisburg, NC where she worked as a bookkeeper for Home Oil Company, then as head bookkeeper for Joyner Wholesale Building Supply also in Louisburg. While living in Louisburg, Lib attended Troutman's Beauty School in Raleigh, NC, but never practiced that profession. Lib moved to Wilmington in 1966, where she worked for Ellington Insulation and Mobil Textiles as a bookkeeper. Lib attended Miller Motte Business College in Wilmington. Lib was a hardworking, intelligent, beautiful woman. She was an avid Duke Basketball fan.

Lib is survived by her three children, daughter, Connie Wilder Register (Husband Bob) of Wilmington, NC. Sons, Ricky Tharrington (Wife Vicky) of Watha, NC and Dell Wilder (girlfriend, Cathy) of Castalia, NC; nine grandchildren, Robert Drake Register (Stick) & wife, Christy of Hendersonville, NC ; Michelle Register Riggs & husband, Keith of Wilmington, NC, Robert Keith Register & wife Rene' of Wrightsville Beach, NC, Jewell Tharrington Horton & husband Hugh of Watha, NC, Hailey Tharrington of Watha (boyfriend J.R.), NC, Madi Tharrington McDougald & husband Eddie of Burgaw, NC ; Cordell Wilder of Las Vegas, NV, Hope Wilder of Memphis, TN and Holly Wilder Height (husband, Jamie) of Zebulon, NC. Eight Great Grandchildren, Victoria Register of Houston, TX, Carson Register, Conner Riggs & Luke Riggs of Wilmington, NC, Tristan Register of Wrightsville Beach, NC, Dallis Guilliams and Jordan Guilliams of Hendersonville, NC and Archer Hugh Horton to be born in January 2013.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 6 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at Grace Baptist Church 1401 N. College Road, Wilmington, NC on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Jim Herchenhahn officiating. Graveside service will be held at the Drake Family Cemetery in Castalia, NC following the funeral service in Wilmington, NC. Lib will be laid to rest beside her dear Mother, Lena Joyner Drake, which was Lib's request.
