Obituary

Ella Mae Fussell Morrison, age 65, of New Bern left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Thursday, July 14, 2011 from Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern.

She was born December 3, 1945 in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late William Hubert Fussell and Pearlie Inez Pelt Fussell. She was also predeceased by her brother, Hubert Earl Fussell.

Mrs. Morrison retired from nursing after a nearly 40 year career of her serving as a register nurse. She was a member of Pleasant Acres Free Will Baptist Church and VFW #9161 in Wallace.

She is survived by her loving husband, Doug Morrison; two daughters, Pam Edwards and husband Trevor of Burgaw and Teresa Swinson and fiance Lloyd Bennett of New Bern; two brothers, Joe Fussell and Nathan Fussell both of Teachey; two sisters, Debbie Fussell of Hampstead and Joyce Teachey of Teachey; and six grandchildren, Casey, Hannah, Cody, Noah, Hunter and Haley.

Funeral service will be 2:30 pm Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Scott Coghill and the Reverend Steven Kimbrell officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm Sunday, one hour prior the funeral service.

Burial will follow the funeral service in Fussell Family Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Trevor Edwards, Casey Edwards, Mike Fussell, Ryan Fussell, Jason Fussell, and Andy Paschal.

Honorary casketbearer will be George Ellis.

Ella Mae was a devoted wife and caring mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed fishing, especially for Spots and also enjoyed cooking and eating them. With a true servant's heart, Ella served and loved others unconditionally. She was dedicated to her family and her church and served others as long as her health permitted. Ella Mae will be greatly missed, but her legacy of love, service and hope will live on for generations to come.
