Elsie Croom Holland, age 82, of Burgaw and formerly of Wilmington on Thursday, October 25, 2007 went to join her beloved husband of fifty-two years, Alexander Holland.

She was born May 30, 1925 in Pender County, the daughter of the late Hadley Croom and Flora Woodcock Croom Malpass. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Carrie Ann Holland; sister, Bertha Bolick and brother, Monroe Croom.

Mrs. Holland was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who lived a life that exemplified her Christian beliefs. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her sons, Alex Wayne Holland and his wife, Barbara of Greer, SC and Stephen C. Holland of Burgaw; grandsons, Andy Holland and Jeffrey Holland; sisters, Hazel Luttrell of Lewisville, TX and Patricia Porciuncula and Porky of Vista, CA; brother, Teddy Croom and wife, Marie of Rocky Point; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Cindy Grimsley.

Graveside funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27, at Moores Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Philip Eakins officiating.

The family suggest that memorial gifts may be given to Moores Creek Baptist Church, C/O Kaye Nobles, 203 Bowers Lane, Currie, NC 28435.

Elsie's family would like to extend their grateful appreciation to the staff of Huntington Health Care for the professional, tender loving care that has been given to their mother for the past three years.
