Elven Ray Sholar, age 71 of Wallace died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Camp Lejeune Navel Hospital.

He was born April 6, 1937 in Duplin County and was the son of the late Odell and Myrtle Cavenaugh Sholar. He is predeceased by his brother, Elber Lee Sholar.

Mr. Sholar served his country honorably in the US Navy where he retired after twenty-two years of service. He loved his country dearly and was truly proud to be a part of it's armed forces.

Graveside funeral service with full military honors will be 10:00 am Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville
