Elwood Joseph Mills, age 80, of Wallace died Friday, August 22, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Mills was born May 7, 1928 in Duplin County and was the son of the late Joe Z. and Viola English Mills. He was also predeceased by his sister, Mary Blackburn.

Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Jewell Tiderman Mills of the home; his sons, Joseph Wayne Mills and wife, Peggy and Dennis Wade Mills and wife, Karen, all of Wallace; granddaughter, Amanda Mills Evans and husband, James; great grandchildren, Felecity Evans and Joshua Evans; brother, Bobby Mills of Wallace; sisters, Mavis English, Alice Murray and Merrill Tiderman, all of Wallace, Hazel Giddeons of Willard, Armour Moore and Bonnie Lee Teachey, both of Rose Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Riverview Memorial Park with the Rev. Warren G. Rivenbark officiating.

The family will receive friends at the home of Elwood and Jewell Mills.
