Elwood Todd Richardson-Ramsey, age 82, of Burgaw passed peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 26, 1928 in Horry County, SC, the daughter of the late Fred Lewis Skipper and Ethel Hardwick Skipper. Elwood was preceded in death by her husbands, Clyde Vernon Todd, Sr. and John Thomas "J. T." Richardson; and son, Clyde Vernon Todd, Jr.
Surviving is her husband, J. B. Ramsey; daughters, Shirley T. Fowler and Vanessa T. Martindale (Craig) both Wilmington; son, James Earl Todd (Tammy) of Rose Hill; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; step-daughter, Debra C. Anderson (Robert) of Rocky Point; two step-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Calhoun of SC; brothers, Joe, Hoyt and Douglas Skipper all of SC; and many nieces and nephews.
Elwood was a member of Friendly Community Baptist Church and most recently attended Burgaw Holiness P.F.W.B. Church.
Elwood dearly loved her children and lived her life for them and her grandchildren. For the past nine years she has been happily married to J. B., who was devoted to Elwood and brought much joy into her life. Together, they enjoyed traveling, fishing and gardening. Elwood found great joy in the simplest things, but her greatest joy was her love for the Lord and for her family. Elwood may have passed, but one can be sure that her legacy will live on forever in the lives of those she loved and touched.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. John Barnes and The Rev. Robert Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
Casketbearers will be Tod Fowler, Kevin Martindale, Eric Martindale, Robert Anderson, Robert Ramsey and Jeff Hawkins.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home.
