Eric Ericson, 71, of Wilmington, NC, and a Vietnam Veteran, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

He was born on February 3, 1952, in Lindenhurst, NY, to the late Theodore and Edith (Zittel) Ericson.

Eric, a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, served honorably in the US Marine Corps and the US Army from 1971 until his retirement in 1991. He was extremely proud to serve his country and did many tours overseas. Eric received numerous medals of honor including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and letters of appreciation from President Bush. After retiring from the military, Eric had a long and storied career in law enforcement in North Carolina. He was very charismatic and admired by all who met him.

In addition to his parents, Eric was also preceded in death by his son, Eric Ericson, whom he affectionately referred to as "Monkey".

He is survived by his daughters, Erica Curtin and husband, Timothy, Kristin Ericson; his grandchildren, Timothy Joseph, Bridget, Victoria; two brothers; a sister; two godsons; and numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Eric's honor be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 885 at 801 Princess St, Wilmington, NC 28401.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Coastal Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC, with full military honors performed by the US Marine Corps.

Visitation will be from 6pm to 9pm on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington.
