Ernest Eugene Gurganous, age 83, of Willard died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Gurganous was born June 3, 1924 in Onslow County and was the son of the late John and Marenda Alice Brown Gurganus. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Lee Gurganous; daughter, Janet Gurganous Boney; brothers, Raleigh Gurganous and Turnie Gurganous; and sisters, Ella Padgett and Gussie Carter.

He was a member of Potts Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his devoted son, Gene Gurganous and wife, Jennifer, currently residing in Camp Hill, PA; grandchildren, Crystal G. Cummings and husband, Rodney, Kelly Gurganous and Richard Boney; great grandchildren, Hailey Madison Cummings and Regan Marianne Cummings; sisters, Exie Padgett of Wallace and Lizzie Rivenbark of Winterville and many nephews and nieces, including his beloved niece, Joyce Ward, who Ernest called on often and she was always there for him.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Potts Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev Bob Swart officiating.
