Obituary

Ernest Voise Horrell, age 59, of Castle Hayne died unexpectedly Friday, March 13, 2009 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born October 8, 1949 in Sampson County and was the son of the late Eddie Voise and Marie Malpass Horrell.

Ernest served his country honorably in the US Army and was retired from General Electric Company.

Surviving are his best friend and wife, Cindy Horrell of the home; daughter, Rita Flynn and husband, Chris, of Wallace; son, Wayne Horrell and wife, Janett, of Burgaw; step-daughter, Rana Owens of Knoxville, Tennessee; thirteen grandchildren; and best friends, Tommy Fussell and Dolly.

Ernest loved his family, his dogs, and his many friends. He was a collector of old tractors and enjoyed restoring antique toy cars. He had a passion for NASCAR. With his outgoing personality he never met a stranger and was a good neighbor and friend. Ernest will be greatly missed and always remembered.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with The Rev Larry Parker and Pastor Wade Horrell officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

Casketbearers will be Tommy Fussell, Douglas Rivenbark, Christopher Rivenbark, Cory Flynn, John Boda and Wayne Horrell.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace.
