Obituary

Esther Kish Baker, age 97, of Charlotte and formerly of Buffalo, NY passed peacefully from her earthly life to her eternal rest on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Brian Center of Mooresville.

She was born May 30, 1914 in Hungary, the daughter of the late Alexander and Julia Vajos Kish. When Esther was 13 years old she immigrated to Kipling, Saskatchewan, Canada with her father, mother and her siblings with the exception of one sister. While living in Canada Esther met and married her beloved husband, Fred Baker, who died in 2007. Fred, Esther, and their only child, Robert "Bob" Fredrick, moved from Canada to Buffalo, NY, in the 1950's. When Fred and Esther grew older and needed to be near their son and daughter-in-law they moved to the Charlotte area.

Esther was a member of First Baptist Church of Cornelius in the Charlotte area. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Creating a home filled with love and sunshine, Esther especially enjoyed baking and was a wonderful cook. Her faith in the Lord, warm heart and gentle smile will always be remembered.

Surviving Esther is her son, Robert Fredrick Baker and his wife, Nancy, of Denver; grandchildren, Serena McClamroch (Ken) and Suzi Watson (Chip); and great grandchildren, Jordan McClamroch, Logan McClamroch, McKenna Watson and Addison Watson.

Graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Riley's Creek Memorial Cemetery with The Rev. Jim Herchenhahn officiating.
