Esther Moore Messer, 93, of Currie passed gently from her earthly life Thursday, April 13, 2023 following a long and fruitful life.

She was born May 5, 1929 in Pender County, the daughter of Burkee Moore and Eula Bibb Moore. In addition to her parents Esther was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Messer.

Esther is survived by her sons, James "Flip" L. Messer, Jr. and Daniel "Danny" Ray Ives and his wife, Mary Anne; grandchildren, Amber Messer (Jesse), Torrey Messer (Cassie), Drew Messer (Shanna), Cameron Campos, Kelly Ives Gerlach, and Chase Fulcher; great grandchildren, Jackson Prax and Riley Farrington; and many extended family members and friends.

Esther loved her family and always had their best interest at heart. She enjoyed all of the wonders of God's creations – watching birds, planting flowers and gardening (in her younger years)!  Once Esther got something on her mind she was very determined and persistent to get it accomplished with or without assistance. She was a storyteller, loving to talk about special events that happened throughout her life. Esther loved the Lord and took quiet time each day for Bible reading. Her presence in our lives will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2023 at Moore Family Cemetery, 500 Messer Loop Road, Burgaw, NC. Chaplain Miles Siler will conduct the service. Following the service family will visit with friends at the cemetery.
