Eugene Rivenbark, age 73, of Wallace went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 19, 2007, at his home.
He was born September 10, 1934, in Duplin County and was the son of the late Pearlie and Maggie Southerland Rivenbark. He was also predeceased by his son, Willie Gray Rivenbark and brothers, Oscar Rivenbark, Edwin Rivenbark, Allen Rivenbark, Mance Rivenbark, Cameron Rivenbark, Ronald Rivenbark, Donald Rivenbark and Raymond Stone.
Mr. Rivenbark was a retired farmer and owner of Rivenbark Discount Store for more than fifty years. He was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church. Known to many as the "Corn Man," he grew the biggest strawberries and the sweetest corn around. He was a gifted farmer and a wonderful cook. There was nothing he loved better than to cook for a big crowd. He loved all his family especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-four years, Pauline Smith Rivenbark of the home; children, Scottie Rivenbark and wife, Susan of Wallace, Tracy Stubbs and husband, Steve of Raleigh and Brian "Skeeter" Rivenbark and wife, Gwen of Wallace; grandchildren, Amanda Whaley, Philip Stubbs, Matthew Rivenbark, Adam Whaley, Dylan Rivenbark, Haley Rivenbark, Hannah Rivenbark and Maggianna Rivenbark; sisters, Maggie Pearl Crawley of Wallace, Annie Laurie Evans and husband, Wendell of Magnolia, Lucy R. Parker of Rose Hill, Vergie R. Crawford and husband, Kenny of Jacksonville and Faye Wiciak of Northwood, OH and brother, Pearlie "Coonie" Rivenbark, Jr. of Wallace.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Rev Lester Hunter and Rev Ronald Ginn officiating.
Burial will follow in Pin Hook Cemetery, Teachey.
Casketbearers will be Stevie Rivenbark, Glenn Parker, Timmy Evans, Allen Earl Rivenbark, Mike Rivenbark and Phillip Hughes.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace and other times at "The Kitchen," 291 Jack Dale Rd, Wallace.
