Eunice Lanier
Dickens
Aug 19, 1927 — Mar 7, 2013
Burgaw- Once upon a memory, someone wiped away a tear, held me close and loved me. Thanks, mother dear!
Our mother, Eunice Lanier Dickens, left her earthly life for her heavenly home on March 7, 2013 with family and friends by her bedside. Eunice was born August 19, 1927 in Sampson County, the daughter of James Edward and Annie Mathis Gurganious. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hosea William Lanier; daughter, Cynthia Gale Lanier and son, Barry James Lanier.
Eunice is survived by her son, Lannie Lanier; daughters, Teresa Ann Shepard (Tommy), Jennifer Lanier Cherry (Bill), Robin Dickens Horrell, and Tammy Dickens Landreth (Joey); very special daughter-in-law, Bunny Quinn; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
She was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church. Often she spoke of how much she loved her church family, who were always there for her even until the very end. Her church family did so much for her ... moved her disability ramp, took her to church, and visited her every week. Eunice's family extends a special thank you to the members of Bible Baptist Church for all the help and love they gave to our mom.
Eunice was a member of the NC Homemaker's Extension Club and received the Governor's Award for volunteering at the Pender Adult Services store, "The Second Hand Rose." She was an avid gardener, but most of all she loved her family and was a much loved mother, grandmother and friend.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Robelen officiating. Burial will follow in Harrells Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church until hour of the service.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to our mom's earthly angels: Well Care, Diane, Tony and Barbara; and Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Betty and the caring hospice staff. Special thanks to Daphne and Melissa for their non-selfish, undivided attention to our mom during her last days of earthly life.
