Eva Batchelor Brown Whaley, age 82, of Wallace was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, June 8, 2009 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh after having a blessed life.
Born September 11, 1926 in Jacksonville to Calvin Batchelor and Mary Pierce Batchelor Williams. She was also predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Norman E. Brown; sisters, Macey, Jackie and Emily; and a step-son, Michael A. Whaley.
"Miss Eva", as she was affectionately known by many is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, David A. Whaley, Jr. of the home; son, Ronnie Brown (Audrey) of Wallace; daughters, Barbara B. Jones (Wilbert) of Wallace and Vicki B. Williamson (Eddie) of Wilmington; granddaughters, Brittainy Schwartz (Billy) and Brooklyne Williamson; great granddaughter, Clara Britt Schwartz; sisters, Rachel B. Bond (Howard) and Minnie Kowaski; brothers, Alvin Batchelor, Ellis Batchelor, Arthur Batchelor, Barthur Batchelor, Archie Batchelor, Terry Williams, Edward Williams, and Mickey Williams; step-children, David Whaley (Gigi) of Hampstead, Renee May (Zeke) of Summerfield, Greg Whaley (Susan) of Teachey and Boyce Whaley of Wallace; seven step-grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Retiring was not an option for Eva who loved visiting with her many customers, family and friends on a consistent basis. She knew no strangers and truly found joy being with everyone she met. Right up to her unexpected passing she was an active member of Poston Baptist Church in Wallace for many years and dearly loved her church family.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Poston Baptist Church with the Rev. Dustin Gillispie officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace.
Memorial gifts may be given to Poston Baptist Church, 4121 S NC hwy 11, Wallace, NC 28466.
