Obituary

Everett Earl Daughtrey, 70, of Currie passed gently from his earthly life to his heavenly home on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.

He was born October 10, 1945 in Pender County, the son of the late Odell and Margaret Lewis Daughtrey. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Linda Batchelor Daughtrey and brother, Durwood Daughtrey.

Everett is survived by his children, Pam Daughtrey, Earl Daughtrey, Dale Daughtrey, and Franklin Daughtrey; special friend, Edna Spencer; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Smith, Frankie Saunders (Louis), Joyce Miller (Barry), and Janice Daughtrey; brothers, James Daughtrey (Nena) and Ernie Daughtrey (Kay); sister-in-law, Judy Daughtrey; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Everett was an excellent and diligent worker, working for many years for Southern Metals. He was a faithful member of Bear Branch Baptist Church where he was active especially in the past five years.

Everett loved his family and was the BEST husband, daddy, granddaddy, brother, uncle and friend. Favorite times that Everett enjoyed were cookouts and family gatherings. His greatest gift was the joy he brought others through his laughter with the warmth of his love and friendship to all. Everett was loved and will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Bear Branch Baptist Church with The Rev. Elbert Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow in Moore Family Cemetery with The Rev. Earl Hewett officiating.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw and at other times will be at the home of Franklin Daughtrey, 118 James E. Moore Rd., Currie.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that you consider a memorial gift to Bear Branch Baptist Church, PO Box 235, Currie, NC 28435.
