Obituary

F. Delano Brown, Jr., 53, of Wallace left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Wednesday, April 5, 2016 from Wake Medical in Raleigh.

He was born on April 12, 1962 in Onslow County and was the son of the late F. Delano Brown, Sr. and Genevieve Blalock Brown Strickland.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his best friend and wife, Sybil Harrell of Wallace; daughters, Kristen Howard and husband, Kristopher and Angela Chestnutt and husband, Steven, all of Willard, sons, Carl Wheeler and wife, Melissa of Willard and Ryan Harrell and wife, Pam of Wallace; his furry daughter and canine companion, "Sophie" and numerous friends that Delano loved dearly.

"Winky' as he was affectionately known by his family was a loving husband, and caring father. He was one who found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was his family. "Winky" had a heart as big as Texas and would give anyone the shirt off his back and help them put it on. He didn't have a lot of money but he was a true and forgiving friend who would give of himself to help others. Delano was also known as "Graverobber" to his many trucker friends. He loved people and never met a stranger. With a joyful spirit he enjoyed life and loved everybody. Delano enjoyed cooking for others and spending time with those he loved. Delano will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. " Ride in Peace, til we see you again".

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at North East Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church on Hanchey Road, Wallace with Pastor Tyler Jernigan officiating.
