Fannie Mae Denning Fields, 87, of Burgaw was granted her angel wings on Thursday, April 11, 2013. Her final days were spent doing the things she most loved such as spending time with her beloved family.

She was born March 19, 1926 in Sampson County, the daughter of William Brad and Bessie Lee Denning. Also remembered is her husband, Raymond Woodrow Fields, Sr. and sister, Pauline D. Overby, both preceded Fannie Mae in death.

Fannie Mae is survived by her son, Raymond W. Fields, Jr. and his wife, Terry of Burgaw; grandchildren, Tony Fields of Rocky Point and Lisa Fields of Burgaw; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Chris, Wally and Cody Fields; brother, Facie Denning and his wife, Pauline of Pikeville; several nieces and nephews; and granddogs, Maxx, Charlie, Buddy, Chance, and Kate Fields.

Fannie Mae was retired after working 38 years as switchboard operator at Pender Memorial Hospital. For many years Fannie Mae and her husband were co-owners of Fields Electronics and Appliances.

Fannie was a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Fannie Mae had a kind heart, a feisty sense of humor, and a warm smile that could brighten any rainy day. She enjoyed the simple things in life, but most of all treasured her family. Fannie was an expert seamstress and enjoyed watching Tennis matches and Westerns on TV. Fannie leaves a legacy of faith, love and hope along with her cherished memories.
