Janice Faye Hanchey Gurgainous, age 57, of Rose Hill, left this life for her eternal rest on Wednesday September 18, 2019 from Vidant Duplin Hospital.
She was born on August 3, 1962 in New Hanover County and was the daughter of Kathleen Pierce Hanchey of Wallace and the late Henry Hanchey.
Faye served as Director of Services with Carolina East/Vidant Home Care and Hospice for 18 years. She did not take her job lightly. She was proud to be a part of such wonderful co-workers as they made a difference in people's lives.
In addition to her mother, Faye is survived by her longtime friend and husband of 7 years, Micheal "Mikey" Dean Gurgainous; her son, Christopher "Micheal" Prevatte and wife, Beth of Clayton; her daughter, Jill Prevatte English and husband, Tony of Wallace; grandchildren, Kathleen Jane Prevatte, Kyndall Grace English, Paige Christine English and Felicia English; brothers, Henry "Steve" Hanchey and Gordan "Lee" Hanchey and numerous extended family and friends that loved Faye dearly.
Faye was a loving mother and caring grandmother and sister. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren who were the apples of her eye. Faye enjoyed music, her job, and of course, 'Sundrop'. With a big heart and caring spirit, Faye's life was about serving others. During her years at Carolina East/Vidant Home Care and Hospice, Faye learned what life was all about. She was full of compassion, love and kindness for others. Faye made a difference in the life of others. She will truly be missed, but warm memories will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A Memorial service for Faye will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Christian Fellowship Church, 4017 NC Hwy 11 S., Wallace with Pastor Kevin Peterson and Pastor Buck Grady officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to Vidant Home Health and Hospice, 750 S. Kenansville By-Pass, Kenansville, NC 28349. Please put on the memo line of your check, "Kenansville Hospice". Should you have another favorite charity, please feel free to give generously to it.
