Flora Johnson Dawson went to be with her Lord on August 2, 2010 at the age of 82 in Atkinson, North Carolina. Flora was born in Delco, NC on October 4, 1927 to Paul M. Johnson, Sr. and Lucy Council Johnson. Wilmington was near to her heart as it was her hometown where she grew up, graduated from New Hanover High School in 1945, and met John Frederick Dawson, her soul mate and love of her life. John and Flora were married in 1947, and over the next decade were blessed with four children: John Jr., Danny, Flora Jane and David. The family moved to Orlando, Florida in 1960, where the children grew up and graduated from high school. Flora loved her children and her grandchildren who were the focus of her life. She was a dedicated wife, Mother, and Grandmother and raised a loving close-knit family who perpetuate that example of love for each other.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, and her brothers, Wilbur and Paul, Jr. She is survived by her children, John Jr. (Carolyn) of Charlottesville, VA, Danny (Reeny) of Orlando, FL, Flora Jane (Chuck) Webb of Anna Maria Island, FL and David of Atkinson, NC. She is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy Hathaway of Atkinson, NC and Doris Walton of Raleigh, NC; as well as eight grandchildren, John III (Sarah) of Charlottesville, VA, Daniel of Paris, France, Lauren of San Diego, CA, Leanna of Charlottesville, VA, David Rogers of Orlando, FL, Michael and Megan of Winchester, VA and Rachel Webb of Anna Maria Island, FL.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21st, at Moores Creek Baptist Church in Currie, NC with the Rev. Philip Eakins officiating.
