Frances Louise Bloodworth, age 77, of Willard died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at her home with family by her side.

She was born May 10, 1932 in Lunenburg, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Art and Christine Lowry Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmore Bloodworth; sister, Dot McKinney and brother, Pete Mitchell.

Frances is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Jo and Wayne Lanier of Burgaw; sons and daughters-in-law, Elmore and Pam Bloodworth, Jr. of Wilmington, Danny and Judy Bloodworth of Clinton and Edward and Mary Bloodworth of Willard; grandchildren, Mary Paluck, Scott Bloodworth, Nicholas Bloodworth, E. J. Bloodworth and Tammy Bloodworth; five great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Daniel and her husband, Mac, of Alberta, Virginia, Betty Lunsford and her husband, Bill, of Rocky Point, and Judy Dawson and her husband, Bucky, of Alberta; brother, Glen Mitchell and his wife, Diane, of Greenville, South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

Frances was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who loved her family without reservation. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light and joy of her life. Frances was a plain spoken lady and one always knew where they stood with her as well as what Frances thought was right and good. She enjoyed the simple things in life, but her family was her greatest treasure. Always Frances enjoyed all of God's nature, especially as she worked in her flower garden. Cherished memories of Frances will always remain in our hearts.

Funeral service will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Lenier Furr officiating. The family will receive friends following the funeral service until 8:00 p.m. at funeral home.

Graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Riverview Memorial Park with The Rev. Tony Fontana officiating.
