Obituary

Frances Roche Hughes, age 80, of Currie and formerly of New York passed gently from her earthly life to her eternal rest on Friday, November 16, 2012 at her home.

She was born April 23, 1932 in the Bronx, New York. Frances was raised by her Christian bachelor uncle, Ernest "Mo" Brown after her mother, Madeline Brown Roche, died when Frances was two years old. Lovingly remembered is her husband, James Louis Hughes, Sr. who preceded Frances in death.

Frances is survived by her son, James Louis "Jim" Hughes, Jr. (Aimee Marshall) of Currie; daughters, Diane Hughes Balulis (David) of Currie and Madeline Rackley (Kenneth) of Burgaw; grandchildren, Eileen Harris (Steven), Andrew Rackley, Laura Campagna and Dennis Hodge; great grandchildren, Baylor Harris, Nicole Campagna and Nicolas Campagna; and sister, Catherine McCarthy of Poughkeepsie, NY.

Frances loved her family and was the BEST wife, mom, grandmother, sister and friend anyone could ask for. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, creating a home filled with sunshine, laughter and joy. Everyone agrees that Frances was the glue that held her family together. Loving God's entire world, Frances daily fed the birds, watered her flowers and enjoyed being outdoors. Her love of music knew no bounds. Cherished memories of Frances will always live on in the hearts and lives of her family.

For, lo, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth;
The time of the singing of birds is come.
