Francis Anthony \\"Tony\\"
Fallon Iii
March 7, 2011
Francis Anthony "Tony" Fallon III, age 53, of Hampstead died peacefully Monday, March 7, 2011 with family by his side.
He was born November 24, 1957 in Jacksonville, the beloved son of Clara Batson Fallon of Hampstead and the late Francis Anthony Fallon, Jr. Tony is survived by his mother; sisters, Julie F. Jones, Margaret F. Grant, Iris F. Maley, and Donna F. Blankenship (Dennis) all of Hampstead; and many nieces and nephews.
Tony, a caring son, brother, uncle and friend dedicated his life to his family and was often referred to as the "family boss" by his sisters and mom. As a young boy Tony played Little League baseball and in one game proudly pitched a no hitter with 16 strikeouts. Such a feat, that the next day he appeared on the Jim Burns TV show. He enjoyed fishing, but his greatest passion was deer hunting and it is told that he once killed three large bucks in one day. Tony was a quiet man with a warm heart and gentle spirit who fought to live, but in the end accepted his illness with the same great faith and courage that he lived his life. Fond memories of Tony will always remain in our hearts.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Barlow-Vista Baptist Church with The Rev. Bobby McGraw officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Lacy Atkinson, David Dunbar, Mark Justice, Richard Handcock, Ernest Geddie and Mark King. Honorary bearers will be Evan Jones, Craig Shingleton, John Callahan, Devon Parrish, Tommy Carter, Pete Gideon, and Larry Batson.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw and at other times will be at the home of Clara Fallon in Hampstead.
With heartfelt appreciation Clara would like to thank all - family, friends, and medical staff who helped Tony throughout his illness and his journey to Heaven.
