Frank Gable Rivenbark, 83, of Currie passed peacefully from his earthly life on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at The Laurels of Pender.
He was born April 19, 1934 in Pender County one of 12 children born to Scarnwall Lester and Eva Wells Rivenbark. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Merritt Rivenbark; sons, Douglas Wayne Rivenbark and Ricky Melvin Rivenbark; daughter, Rhonda Marie Rivenbark; step-sons, Edward Lee Moore and Calvin Moore; siblings, Luema Higgins, Carolyn Teachey, Edna Rivenbark, Ivey Rivenbark, Woodley Rivenbark, Margaret Rivenbark and infant Rivenbark.
Frank is survived by his step-daughter, Loyce Flake Long; grandchildren, Patricia Thornton (Danny), Matthew Moore, and Leanne Cummings (David); great grandchildren, Michael Cummings, Thomas Moore, Brenlee Thornton and Bryce Thornton; sisters, Maude Rivenbark and Evelyn Bloodworth; brothers, Morris Rivenbark (Julia) and Edgar Rivenbark (Helen); and many nieces and nephews.
Frank served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Moores Creek Baptist Church and was retired from General Electric Company.
Frank was a kind and gentle man who loved his family. He was small in stature, big in heart, always with a smile and gentle encouraging words to greet you. His Christian faith, caring manner and faithful spirit will long be remembered.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Moores Creek Baptist Church with service beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Roger Barnes and The Rev. Philip Eakins will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
